It looks like there is a small window of opportunity for any volunteers to sign up to be a Butterfly Ranger! 𓂃 ࣪˖ ཐིཋྀ
The Butterflyway Project is a volunteer-led movement that works to grow highways of habitat for bees and butterflies across Canada. The goal of establishing habitat for local bees and butterflies in communities is done through volunteer Butterfly Rangers. Each ranger is tasked with organizing a small team to help plant at least a dozen pollinator patches. Signing up to be a ranger means you have access to webinars, online resources, and different connections. This is a great way to do meaningful work and get involved with a national network of pollinator advocates!
Ranger recruitment is only open until Feb 19th.
Learn more about this fun way to learn, connect, and help pollinators!

I came across this organization today called Environment Tasmania. They work with wildlife, forests, and oceans. Some of what they offer seems to be marine surveys, a petition to sign, options to write letters to politicians, articles, reports, newsletters, and information, a video series, a take action section, and other ways to help this incredibly unique area by volunteering, donating, or using the provided resources.
Check it out here: Environment Tasmania (e(https://www.et.org.au/)t.org.au)(http://et.org.au)(https://www.et.org.au/)

Take a listen to some beautiful music from the Amazon rainforest and learn about the people and a recent film from this area.
🎶 The song is a chant from Yube, the son of Ninawa Pai da Mata. Ninawa Pai da Mata is a well-known Chief of the Novo Futuro Village, of the Huni Kuin people in Acre, Brazil. He is a respected knowledge keeper, talented musician, and recognized in many countries for his healing work through medicine.
🎬 The film is called Eskawata Kayawai - The Spirit of Transformation. It’s about the Huni Kuin people experiencing cultural and spiritual renaissance after decades of slavery during the rubber plantation era. They were forbidden to speak their language, marked with numbers, and couldn't live their culture. "It took more than 20 years of hard work, prayers, and cultural strengthening undertaken by the spiritual leader Ninawá Pai da Mata so that his people could return to their ancestral way of life."
• You can find the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c7mmUUwghk(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c7mmUUwghk)
🎤 Below is a quote from Ninawá Pai da Mata:
• "This biodiversity, we Huni Kuin and indigenous peoples in general, as human beings, are also in the middle of this as people who can help to speak up and represent all of us who live here because all our knowledge comes from here, from the jungle, from nature."

Take a journey to the land of the Mapuche People and the language of Mapudungun!
Gonzalo Luanko, known as "Luanko", is an urban artist who started in the hip-hop culture as a teenager. He is a practising history teacher who has released at least 5 albums. “His discography contains an attractive lyrical work in verses that alternate from Spanish to Mapudungun, rescuing the native language and delivering the message to new generations for the reconstruction of the Mapuche culture.”
This song is called Trapi and comes with a great beat and an artistic, traditional video. Trapi is a chili pepper used “to protect the house from evil forces, to clean spaces with its smoke, to warm the body in the face of the cold, to give flavor to meals. The chili pepper has a deep meaning for our culture, instead of gold metal chains, in our music we use Trapi necklaces, to strengthen our identity, revitalize and protect our language. We have many elements in common as native peoples and mestizo people, and one is the Trapi, each people has different types of chili peppers, different ways of preparing them and living with them.”
What did you like best about the song? 🌶️

Try something different with a short video that breaks down some amazing language attributes coming from Eastern South Africa!
It’s 2 minutes and 48 seconds long. I got to the 2-minute mark before my mind was blown and I couldn’t repeat it. How far do you get? 🤔

In Dream Green Dreams
• 1.5 billion cotton swabs are produced every day.
• All of these swabs require resources to produce, ship, and package - all to be thrown out after one use.
• They can also end up in waterways as microplastics.
• The average person throws away approximately 415 each year.
• About 8 million metric tons of plastic enters our oceans each year and dispossible cotton swabs make up between 1-6% of this.
• Land and water use, along with fossil fuel demand, are other impacts associated with them.
• A reusable Q-tip can replace approximately 1000 of the regular throw-away swabs.
What do you think about this option and information? Is it that simple to personally eliminate 415 sticks of plastic each year? If it is, why is this green alternative not more well-known or tried?
